注染手ぬぐい

注染（ちゅうせん）は、ゆかたや手ぬぐいに使われる伝統的な型染めの一種です。 木綿の生地に型紙を置いて特殊な糊で防染し、生地を重ね合わせた上から染料を注いで模様部分を染め上げます。 職人さんの手作業で染め上げていくため、同じ柄でも1枚1枚に微妙な個性や独特の味わいが生まれます。 にじみやぼかしの表現が織りなす優しい風合いの手ぬぐいは、普段使いだけでなく、贈り物にもおすすめです。

当社は、各地の職人さんにご協力いただいてオリジナル柄の注染手ぬぐいを製作し、お客様にお届けします。

* 菁雨堂オリジナル手ぬぐいは2023年秋頃から販売の予定です。

With the cooperation of traditional artisans, we produce and provide original patterned tenugui washcloths.

Tenugui is a Japanese washcloth made of soft, plain-woven cotton cloth, about 35 x 90 cm in size. To dye patterns on them, artisans use a kind of traditional stencil dyeing technique called chusen. Tenugui made by chusen has a beautiful expression of delicate blurring and blotches, and gradation of colors. The cloth is soft to the touch and highly breathable, making it suitable for use in a variety of situations.

* Our original tenugui washcloths will be available around fall 2023.
